DemoLinux
DemoLinux was the first Diskless Linux boot system I ran into, and by far is the best about treating your hard drive with respect. It only writes to your hard drive at your instruction, and creates a C:\Demolinux\ directory where it can install 2 files, one swap file for ram, and one file for storing boot configurations and any new software you want to install. Diskless, in this case, means it installs from the CD into RAM, and not onto your hard drive.
Linux Build: Debian Linux.
Desktop: Defaults to KDE2, also has Gnome, StarOffice, TWM, and FailSafe.
Hard Drive Used: None, until you click the Anchor icon.
Programs Included: StarOffice5.2 (Windows Compatable Office97); Last Free Commercial StarOffice Build. Konquorer2, KMail, KICQ, gAIM, gFTP, Gnapster, Netscape4.76, more... Asteroids, FreeCiv (server and client), Turing, Mahjong, Reversi, Tron, more...
Pros: Great Network setup, including full DHCP detection; wide range of hardware supported; Both KDE and Gnome desktops, with most programs accessable from either one, no mater which they were built for.
Cons: Not yet updated to KDE3 system.
